Home Sweet Home

Since several people have asked for photos of the house (most likely because it is all I talk about), I have decided to post a little "virtual tour" of our cozy beach cabin. Fortunately for you, it won't take long, since our "house" is no more than one room upstairs, one room downstairs, and a bathroom. We love it all the same, though, and hope you can come see it in person! So here we go,

First site of the house upon pulling into the driveway. The outside pictures were all taken back in February, so there is not as much greenery as there is now. Unfortunately, though, our yard now desperately needs to be mowed so I am too ashamed to take pictures outside. Factor in the furniture we have out there that needs to head to the dump, and it is just one big white trash jungle. So the winter pics will have to do!

A picture from the side. You can see that the house is built on a hill, so the upstairs is where the front door is as well as the kitchen, bathroom, and "living room". Dakota loves to play on the hill!!

The top of the hill. We have a wonderful porch where we love to sit and have coffee in the morning with our friend Ben, who lived here before us with his wife Dani. Ben is also Jake's boss, so after coffee, they head off to work together

The upstairs as seen from the front door. Kitchen to the left, dining area, and living area all in one room. The steps to downstairs are right behind the table. I absolutely love the upstairs. It's a beautiful, bright, and warm room, and I'm really proud of how we utilized such a small space.

Turn to your left and you can see our kitchen. We do a lot of cooking and, until we got the table, it was very difficult to prepare food on such little counter space.

Gotta use every inch of space you can! I've been adding hooks everywhere

Turn left again and, right next to the front door is our bathroom. On the door, you can see we have a rack for food storage. Another good use of space.

Our cozy little living room corner. Jake bought lots of plants, so with the dog, fish, snake and turtle, we have quite a zoo

Heading down stairs. We have our "family" photos up-- Jake and I with our friends Martha, Dominic, and Kinga in Philadelphia; our friend Scott's daughter, Alice; Ben and Dani; and of course, Dakota.

On the other side of the stairs are some shelves, which Jake and I constantly argue over. He says they should be used for "function", throwing whatever we want on them, and I say his deodorant and boxes of nails don't belong there because this shelf is mostly decorative. I think we've compromised pretty well.

To the right is the bedroom, just big enough to fit a double bed. Still needs some decorating, but even without, it's still pretty nice because of how sunny it gets.

Dakota loooves to nap on the bed!

To the left of the stairs in our "den". There are no windows on this side, so it can feel a bit like a cave, but its comfy for watching a movie at night and Jake has started painting some pictures to hang on the wall.

Annnnnd the downstairs from another angle. I think the armoir is way too bulky, but with no other closet and little drawer space, it really does the trick.

And, finally, our snake, Rocky! I won't touch him, but he's fun to look at!

That's our house!! Its not much--and it's not done-- but I'm so proud of it. Hope you liked!

xoxo
